If you wish to change your host family
What should you do if you wish to change your host family or if your au pair contract is terminated?
If you wish to change to a new host family, you have to submit a new au pair application with reference to the new family. You also have to have recorded new biometric features.
If your present host family has terminated your au pair contract and you wish to stay in Denmark as an au pair, you have to make a contract with a new host family and submit a new application. You also have to have recorded new biometric features.
If you wish to change to a new host family you have give a written termination to your present host family. Your termination will, as a rule, have 2 weeks notice.
The host family can terminate the au pair contract, as a rule, with 1 months notice.
In cases of grave contract violations or other serious circumstances, both parties can terminate the contract with immediate effect.

Unless otherwise agreed, you have to continue as an au pair with your host family throughout the notice period, and the host family has to continue to give you food, accomodation and pocket money.
If you agree with the host family to move away during the notice period, then the host family is only obliged with regards to the pocket money.
When the au pair contract has been terminated you have 1 month to find a new host family and submit a new application. You can find more information about au pair application here.
You are not allowed to start as an au pair at the new host family before you have received a new residence permit. You can, however, reside at the new family as a guest.
You and your new host family have to produce a new written au pair contract. You and both parents of the new family have to sign it. The contract states the terms of your stay with them, such as the family’s obligation to pay for your return ticket, if you leave the EU/EEA. You can read more about the au pair contract here.
If you change to a new host family you will not once more get a 2 year au pair residence permit.
You can as a maximum have residence permits as an au pair for 2 years all together.
Your residence as an au pair cannot be extended beyond a 2 year period.
