If you get pregnant during your stay in Denmark and your host family wishes that you continue to be their au pair, it is possible for you to stay with them. However, this does not apply if you were pregnant at the time when you applied for your residence permit as an au pair. In this case, your residence permit can be revoked.

In case your host family wishes to terminate the contract, your residence permit will be revoked no earlier than one month after the termination of the contract. This will give you at least one month to find a new family.

If you are pregnant and wish to change host family, it is possible for you to obtain a new residence permit provided that you meet the other conditions.

Since an au pair is not allowed to have founded a family, your residence permit can be revoked when you have given birth. Following standard practice, a deadline to leave Denmark will, however, not be set before 2 months after you have given birth at the earliest.

As long as you hold a valid Danish residence permit, you are covered by the Danish public health insurance.

When your contract expires or is terminated, your host family is to pay for your return ticket if you travel to a country outside the EU/EEA area and Switzerland.
