New digital application for those of you who are applying for a residence permit as an accompanying family member in Greenland
Today on 11 May 2026, the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) launches a new digital application, GL2. You can use this application to apply for a residence permit in Greenland as an accompanying family member. This means that as of today, you can complete and submit your application directly on newtodenmark.dk.
What does this mean for you as an applicant?
You can use the application to apply for a residence permit as an accompanying family member to a person, who is either already in Greenland or who is going to Greenland to work or study, if the person has a temporary residence permit or has had a permanent residence permit for less than three years.
You can also use the application to apply for an extension of your current residence permit as an accompanying family member.
The new digital application looks different than the printable version. We guide you on how to complete the application correctly on the relevant application page, on newtodenmark.dk, as well as within the application itself:
You wish to apply for the first time
You wish to extend your residence permit
The application gives you also access to a platform where you can log in and see all of your ongoing applications, as well as your completed applications, for up to 30 days.
For a certain period of time, it will still be possible for you to submit the printable version of the application physically or via our contact form.
Digital applications for the entire family
We have also created a digital application for the family member, whom you are accompanying to Greenland, if the person is working or going to work in Greenland.
The application is called GL1/5 and can be used to apply for a residence and work permit in Greenland on the basis of paid work. Your family member can also use the application to apply for an extension of their current permit.
