New wage level for herdsmen and farm managers

The Regional Labour Market Councils (RAR) have announced a new wage level for herdsmen and farm managers in agriculture. It will come into effect on 1 March 2023 and will apply to applications submitted from 1 March 2023 and onwards.

In the agricultural sector, an indicative wage level exists for herdsmen. This wage level applies regardless of whether the employment is regulated by a collective agreement or not.

The wage level is determined by The Regional Labour Market Councils (RAR) in collaboration with GLS-A and 3F and is based on the increase in salary stipulated in the collective agreement for skilled agricultural workers. The collective agreement’s salary rates are regulated every year on 1 March.

When processing applications for work and residence permits for herdsmen and farm managers, the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) assesses whether the salary corresponds to Danish standards. If the wage level is lower than the wage level determined by RAR, we will assess that the salary does not correspond to Danish standards.

Herdsmen

The salary for a herdsman is considered to correspond to Danish standards if the total salary, incl. payments into pension schemes, is equal to at least DKK 30,498.15.

For employment not regulated by the collective agreement between GLS-A and 3F or the collective agreement between the employers’ association KA and Det Faglige Hus, it also applies that overtime and allowances for working at specific hours are paid according to the collective agreement.

Allowances for working overtime:

  • DKK 202.02 per hour for the first 2 hours counting from the end of the regular working day;
  • DKK 276.95 per hour for the following hours plus Sundays and public holidays or time off in the ratio 1:1.3 for the first 2 hours and 1:1.8 for the following hours plus Sundays and public holidays.

Allowances for work during specific hours:

  • DKK 22.64 per hour from Monday to Saturday between 12 midnight and 5 a.m.
  • DKK 138.23 per day for Saturdays after 12 noon
  • DKK 292.78 per day for Sundays and public holidays

Farm managers

The monthly salary for a farm manager will, as a general rule, be considered corresponding to Danish standard if the salary exceeds the salary for a herdsman and reflects the content of the position and its managerial responsibility. If SIRI assesses that the salary does not correspond to Danish standards, we will ask RAR to assess whether your salary corresponds to Danish standards.
