New agreement regarding easier access to residence and work permits for foreign nationals employed by pre-approved companies in Greenland (Fast Track agreement for Greenland)

The Ministry of Immigration and Integration and the Government of Greenland, Naalakkersuisut, have entered into an agreement on 9 September 2021 regarding faster access to residence and work permits in Greenland.

The agreement means that foreign nationals can apply for a residence and work permit at a pre-approved company if their salary and terms of employment correspond to Greenlandic standards, and if other conditions are met, without having their cases sent for assessment at the Government of Greenland.

The Government of Greenland can pre-approve companies that employ foreign nationals, provided that salary and terms of employment correspond to Greenlandic standards, and if special labour market considerations warrant it.

The Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) processes applications for the individual residence and work permits from applicants who wish to work in Greenland at a pre-approved company.

Applications for a residence and work permit under the Fast Track agreement can be submitted from Greenland if the applicant is residing there legally, and the processing time is up to 1 month from the date of application.

A Fast Track Greenland application page has now been created, providing the rules for applying under the new agreement and a step-by-step guide to submitting the application.
