New agreement regarding easier access to work and residence permits for foreign health personnel in Greenland (the Health Agreement)

The Ministry of Immigration and Integration and the Government of Greenland, Naalakkersuisut, have entered into an agreement on 11 February 2021 about a new and easier access to applying for and being granted a residence and work permit for employees in the Greenlandic health sector.

The agreement means that foreign personnel hired for positions in Greenland which require an authorisation (such as doctors and nurses) can apply for a residence and work permit on more lenient terms than previously. Among other things, this means that – provided that they meet the requirements – they can be granted a residence and work permit without their case being sent to the Government of Greenland for their approval.

As a result of the new agreement, an application for a residence and work permit for the group mentioned above can be submitted in Greenland, and the service goal is reduced from the current 90 days to 30 days.
