SIRI has difficulties meeting service goals due to the COVID-19 situation

SIRI has established service goals for most case types. The service goals indicate how long an applicant can expect to wait for a decision for a residence and work permit. The service goal is calculated from the day the application is submitted and until a decision has been reached. Service goals for processing an application varies from 1 to 3 months depending on the type of application.

SIRI still experiences difficulties meeting the service goals. This is mainly due to the outbreak of corona virus (COVID-19) which meant a partial lockdown of SIRI in the spring of 2020. We therefore have a large number of cases currently being processed. We are working targeted to resolve applications for residence and work permits as quickly as possible, but as an applicant or employer, unfortunately you must expect an extended case processing time. The difficulties apply especially to applications submitted under the following schemes:

  • The Pay Limit Scheme

  • Internships

  • Trainees

  • Herdsmen and farm managers

  • Special individual qualifications

  • The Positive List for the Highly Educated

  • The Positive List for Skilled Work

  • Start-up Denmark

  • Labour Market Attachment

  • Accompanying family to the above mentioned schemes

  • Family reunification with an EU Citizen after the EU rules

  • Family reunification with a Danish Citizen after the EU rules

Unfortunately, we are currently not able to inform you how long the case processing times are for specific schemes or for specific cases. We are working to resolve applications for residence and work permits as quickly as possible.
