Asylum centres

Asylum seekers residing temporarily in Denmark are required to live at an asylum centre while their application is processed.

However, in certain circumstances (listed below) asylum seekers may be able to live outside the asylum centres.

The Danish Immigration Service decides which asylum centre the asylum seeker must live at. An asylum seeker will normally ultimately have lived at a minimum of two centres (a reception centre and an accommodation centre) before the asylum seeker is granted a residence permit in Denmark, leaves Denmark or is deported from Denmark.
