A visa allows you to stay a maximum of 90 days in any 180-day period in Denmark and is normally valid for the entire Schengen region. The days are counted from midnight to midnight. The 90 days may be spread across one or more visits; depending on the number of entries you have been granted.

If you remain in Denmark after your visa expires or if you attempt to use your visa stay to obtain permanent or long-term residency in Denmark, you can be given a penalty period of 3 or 5 years. In the penalty period you will generally not be able to get a visa to visit Denmark.
