In light of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Denmark has partially suspended the agreement between Denmark and Russia on the facilitation of the issuance of visas in line with the EU Council decision 2022/333 of 25 February 2022.

Pr. 5 March 2022, the following provisions of the agreement are suspended in relation to Russian citizens:

  • Article 4(1), point (a) on documentary evidence for the purpose of the journey as regards members of the Russian Federation’s official delegations who, following an official invitation addressed to the Russian Federation, are to participate in official meetings, consultations, negotiations or exchange programmes, as well as in events held in the territory of Denmark by intergovernmental organiza-tions.
  • Artikel 4(1), point (b) on documentary evidence for the purpose of the journey as regards business people and representatives of business organizations.
  • Article 5(1), point (a) on the issuance of multiple-entry visas with the term of validity of up to five years as regards members of the Russian Federation’s national and regional Governments and Parlia-ments, the Russian Federation’s Constitutional Court and the Russian Federation’s Supreme Court. 
  • Article 5(2), point (a) on the issuance of multiple-entry visas with the term of validity of up to five years as regards members of the Russian Federation’s official delegations who, following an official invitation addressed to the Russian Federation, are to participate in official meetings, consultations, negotiations or exchange programmes, as well as in events held in the territory of Denmark by inter-governmental organizations. 
  • Article 5(2), point (b) on the issuance of multiple-entry visas with the term of validity of up to five years as regards business people and representatives of business organizations.
  • Article 5(3), on the issuance of multiple-entry visas with the term of validity of up to five years as re-gards the categories of citizens referred to in article 5(2), points (a) and (b).
  • Article 6(3), point b on waiving fees for processing visa applications as regards members of the Rus-sian Federation’s official delegations who, following an official invitation addressed to the Russian Federation, shall participate in meetings, consultations, negotiations or exchange programmes, as well as in events held in the territory of Denmark by intergovernmental organizations.
  • Article 6(3), point c on waiving fees for processing visa applications as regards members of the Rus-sian Federation’s national and regional Governments and Parliaments, the Russian Federation’s Con-stitutional Court and the Russian Federation’s Supreme Court.
  • Article 6(1) on waived visa fees for the following groups (and where the regular fee under the Visa code will thus apply)
    • Business people and representatives of business organizations, cf. Article 4(1) point b.
    • Members of the Russian Federation’s official delegations who, following an official invitation addressed to the Russian Federation, shall participate in meetings, consultations, negotia-tions or exchange programmes, as well as in events held in the territory of Denmark by inter-governmental organizations, cf. Article 6(3) point b.
    • Members of the Russian Federation’s national and regional Governments and Parliaments, the Russian Federation’s Constitutional Court and the Russian Federation’s Supreme Court, cf. Article 6(3) point c.
  • Article 7 on shorter case processing times for visa application as regards:
    • Members of the Russian Federation’s official delegations who, following an official invitation addressed to the Russian Federation, are to participate in official meetings, consultations, negotiations or exchange programmes, as well as in events held in the territory of Denmark by intergovernmental organizations, cf. Article 4(1) point b.
    • Members of the Russian Federation’s official delegations who, following an official invitation addressed to the Russian Federation, shall participate in meetings, consultations, negotia-tions or exchange programmes, as well as in events held in the territory of Denmark by inter-governmental organizations, cf. Article 6(3) point b.
    • Members of the Russian Federation’s national and regional Governments and Parliaments, the Russian Federation’s Constitutional Court and the Russian Federation’s Supreme Court, cf. Article 6(3) point c.
    • Citizens of the Russian Federation holding a valid diplomatic passport issued by the Russian Federation, cf. Article 11(1).
  • Article 11(1) on visa-free travel for holders of diplomatic passports.
