The job change rule
The job change rule makes it possible for you to start your new job before you have received a new residence and work permit. All you have to do is submit your new application on the same day as you are going to start your new job at the latest.
The job change rule applies if you have a residence and work permit according to
-
The Fast-track Scheme (but not between two stays under the Short-term Track with the same employer),
-
The Positive List for People with a Higher Education,
-
The Positive List for Skilled Work,
-
The Pay Limit Scheme,
-
The Supplementary Pay Limit Scheme, or
-
The Start-Up Denmark Scheme.
Or if you have a residence and work permit as
-
A researcher (the Researcher Scheme),
-
A guest researcher,
-
A trainee,
-
A herdsman or a farm manager,
-
An employee based on your special individual qualifications, or
-
An employee on a drilling rig.
If you find a new job, encompassed by one of the abovementioned categories or you get employed as PhD, you can begin your new job once you have submitted the application for a residence and work permit based on the new job.
If SIRI has given you a job seeking permit because you have lost your job under the Fast-track scheme, the Pay Limit scheme or the Positive list, through no fault of your own:
When you apply for a new residence and work permit during your job seeking period you are also encompassed by the job change rule.
You may therefore begin to work once you have submitted the application for a residence and work permit.
