Information for persons from Iran
Deadline to leave is extended
Due to the current situation in Iran, the Immigration Service and SIRI have, as a general rule, decided to extend the deadlines to leave Denmark granted to persons who are required to depart to Iran. Deadlines granted from and including 23 January 2026 will already be extended. The length of your deadline to leave Denmark is stated in your decision.
If you have been given a deadline to go to Iran that you cannot meet, you must contact us and request an extension. When contacting us, you must state why you believe you cannot comply with the departure deadline and, if possible, provide documentation.
If your decision was issued by the Immigration Service, you must contact the Immigration Service
If your decision was issued by SIRI, you must contact SIRI
Asylum cases suspended
The Danish Immigration Service has decided to suspend the processing of asylum cases concerning persons from Iran.
This follows the decision of the Refugee Appeals Board’s Coordination Committee on 12 January 2026 to suspend cases before the Refugee Appeals Board concerning persons from Iran, due to the very uncertain situation in the country.
Asylum cases in which conditions in Iran are not relevant to the Immigration Service’ decisions will continue to be processed. These include cases concerning transfer under the Dublin Regulation, cases concerning age assessment, cases concerning refusal under section 29 b of the Aliens Act (first country of asylum), and certain cases concerning lapsing.
The Immigration Service will continuously inform the affected applicants about the suspension, which applies until further notice. In this connection, it should be noted that the Refugee Appeals Board’s Coordination Committee will discuss the suspension again at its next meeting on 5 February 2026.
