Special Law for evacuated persons from Afghanistan will be repealed
On 30 November 2025, the law on temporary residence permits for persons who have assisted Danish authorities, etc., in Afghanistan (hereinafter referred to as the Special Law) will be repealed.
The repeal means that it will no longer be possible to apply for an extension if you hold a residence permit based on the Special Law, and your residence permit under the Special Law will expire on 30 November 2025.
When the Special Law is repealed, it will also no longer be possible to apply for residence permits for close family members under the Special Law.
The Danish Immigration Service has contacted you directly by letter if you reside in Denmark and hold a valid residence permit under the Special Law and have not subsequently obtained a residence permit based on asylum. In the letter, we have provided guidance on the possibility of applying for a residence permit in Denmark on another basis before your current residence permit expires.
