The Visa Application Centre in Tehran is temporarily closed from Monday 2 March 2020
Due to the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided, until further notice, to close the Visa Application Centre and the Visa Section at the embassy in Tehran, Iran.
At the embassy and in the Visa Application Centre in Tehran it is therefore, until further notice, not possible to:
- submit applications for residence permits or short stay visas
- have biometric features recorded (the normal 2-week deadline has therefore been suspended)
- receive decisions
- be issued an entry visa to Denmark
Receiving an application or issuing a residence permit or a visa to Denmark will therefore, as a rule, not be handled unless quite extraordinary circumstances apply.
Iranian citizens in Denmark whose residence permits are about to expire or who have been given a deadline for leaving Denmark must still depart in compliance with the given deadline.
The same applies to Iranian citizens whose short stay visa has expired or is about to expire. If practical problems occur in relation to leaving Denmark, an application for extension of the short stay visa can be submitted. Read more about extension of short stay visa
SIRI and the Danish Immigration Service will continuously monitor the situation regarding travel to and from Iran and this news item will be updated, if the situation changes.
