European Conference on Integration 2006
On Friday 8 September 2006 the Danish Minister for Refugee, Immigration and Integration Affairs Rikke Hvilshøj and the Dutch Minister for Immigration and Integration Rita Verdonk was jointly hosting a European Conference in Copenhagen on how to ensure that ethnic minority youth are taking actively part in society.
130 delegates from almost all EU Member States, USA, Australia, and several European and international organizations participated in the conference and took part in discussions on the three main topics of the conference - Education and Employment, Equal Opportunities for All, and Cohesion and Preventing Radicalization.
Furthermore 9 youth ambassadors presented 7 proposals for furthering successful integration on behalf of 53 young participants from all over Europe, who took part in a Youth Event in Denmark on 1-3 September 2006 covering the same issues as the conference.

The booklet has been prepared by the Danish Ministry for Refugees, Immigration and Integration Affairs as input to discussions at the conference. The booklet presents a catalogue of inspiring ideas from different countries on how to promote the successful integration of youth from ethnic minority backgrounds.
Furthermore, materials containing the findings of the conference will be published later on at this website and it will also be sent directly to the participants of the conference.
