Since 14 September, 1998, Denmark has issued new residence cards in a credit card format.

As far as Cards B, D and H are concerned, valid residence cards continue to be in use, which have been issued in another format. These cards comprise laminated paper approx. 9 x 13 cm and are marked with the Danish national coat of arms in white on the background. The primary colour of card B is beige, card D is pale pink and card H is pale purple.

Stickers for insertion in passports, with the following conditions:

  • Sticker B. Time-limited residence permit for foreign nationals, who do not have permission to work
  • Sticker C. Time-limited residence and work permit
  • Sticker D. Accompanying relative (residence permit for children who are registered in the parents’ passport)
  • Sticker H. Time-limited residence permit for foreign nationals, who are exempt from work permit

Stickers, which are issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

  • Sticker E - Diplomatic visa issue – issued to diplomats and their family members who are diplomatically reported and to personnel of international organisations in Denmark with corresponding rank. Valid for residence and repeated entries as long as the person concerned is diplomatically reported in Copenhagen.
  • Sticker F – Residence permit – issued to stationed technical/administrative personnel and their family members as well as diplomats’ domestic servants, who are stationed by the stationing state’s ministry of foreign affairs with a service passport. This is likewise given to personnel of international organisations in Denmark with corresponding rank. Valid for residence and repeated entries for as long as the stationing lasts.
  • Sticker S (in combination with sticker E or F): Residence permits for accompanying near relatives, if they are registered in the passport.

It must be noted that identity cards issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to foreign diplomats, technical/administrative personnel, domestic servants, etc. do not give the right to visa-free entry as these identity cards are not proof of a residence permit in Denmark.

Other documents:

  • List of participants in school trips within The European Union
  • Return permits in the form of a visa sticker with national marking D
