Supplementary requirements

Besides meeting the fundamental requirements (which gives you 70 points) and the active citizenship requirement (which gives you 15 points), you must also meet one of the supplementary requirements in order to obtain the remaining 15 points so you can obtain the full 100 points needed to get a permanent residence permit.

You can obtain the 15 points in three different ways: by having worked full-time in Denmark for four years out of the past 4.5 years, by having completed an education in Denmark, or by having passed Prøve i Dansk 3 or a Danish language test of an equivalent level or higher.

Ordinary full-time employment for at least 4 years

15 points will be awarded if you have had ordinary full-time employment for at least 4 out of the last 4.5 years prior to submitting your application for permanent residence. In addition, you must still be employed at the time of being given a ruling about your application. This means that your employment may not have been terminated at the time you apply.

In other words, the extra 15 points are given for working 18 months longer than the 30 months which are the minimum requirement to qualify for a permanent residence permit.

In the description of 2.5 year employment requirement, the term 'ordinary full-time employment' is explained, and there is a description of the documentation required. This also applies in the case of 4.5 year's employment. Read more about ordinary full-time employment and documentation.

Education

Fifteen points will be awarded if you have completed one of the following types of programmes at a Danish educational institution: higher educational programme, professional bachelor's degree, business academy, vocational upper secondary.

You can find additional information about specific programmes within these categories at the Ministry of Education's Education Guide UddannelselsGuiden.
