Prøve i Dansk 2
In order to qualify for a permanent residence permit, you must pass Prøve i Dansk 2 (Danish exam, level 2) or a Danish language test of an equivalent level or higher.
Documentation should be submitted with your application.
Below is a list of tests of an equivalent level or higher than Prøve i Dansk 2:
- Prøve i Dansk 2 or Prøve i Dansk 3
- Studieprøven
- 9th or 10th grade final exams, including passed Danish language exams
- Passed final exams of Danish 'Gymnasium' or similar (Studentereksamen, HF, HHX, HTX)
- Almen voksenuddannelse (avu): Danish as a second language, level G, Danish as a second language, level D, Danish level G and Danish level D
- Almen voksenuddannelse (avu): Almen forberedelseseksamen
- HF: Danish as a second language and Danish
- Danskprøve 3 at Studieskolen i København, Studieskolen i Odense or Århus Kommunes Sprogcenter
- FVU-læsning level 2, 3 or 4
- Vocational education, eg. passed basic level or partially passed basic level with at least one Danish discipline passed on level A-F
- Completed higher educational programme in Danish at a university, business school, professional bachelor's degree in nursing or pedagogy, or similar

- Almenprøve 2 at Studieskolen i København, Studieskolen i Odense or Århus Kommunes Sprogcenter
- Danskprøve 2 at Studieskolen i København, Studieskolen i Odense or Århus Kommunes Sprogcenter
- Sprogskolernes Profiltest
- Sprogskolernes erhvervsforberedende prøve (ERH)
- Sprogskolernes voksenuddannelsesforberedende prøve (VUF)
- Almen voksenuddannelse (avu): Danish as a second language, level 1, Danish level 1 and Danish level 2
Language requirements for special groups:
- Foreign nationals who have previously held Danish citizenship:
Applicants who hold a residence permit under the Danish Aliens Act, section 9d (or previously section 9(1)(i)) who have attended a Danish school for a least six years are regarded as having knowledge of Danish at an equivalent or higher level than Prøve i Dansk 2.
- Foreign nationals belonging to the Danish minority in South Schleswig:
Applicants born in South Schleswig who have (at least in part) attended a Danish school, and who have displayed an attachment to Denmark are regarded as having knowledge of Danish at an equivalent or higher level than Prøve i Dansk 2.
- Foreign nationals with Danish parents:
Applicants with Danish parents who hold a residence permit under the Danish Aliens Act, section 9c(1) must attach documentation that they have passed Prøve i Dansk 1 (Danish exam, level 1) or a Danish language test of an equivalent level or higher.
