International cooperation

The Integration Ministry is responsible for many tasks of an international nature, including cooperating on EU and Nordic legislation as well as cooperation with the UN's official organs.

Cooperation happens more occasionally with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), the Council of Europe, inter-governmental Consultations (IGC) and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).

In addition to this, the Ministry has contact with many countries in connection with repatriation agreements, for example, other forms of practical cooperation as well as exchanging of information.

The international cooperation is managed to a great extent by the Integration Ministry's International Division, which prepares and participates in meetings and discussions in other countries.

The International Division also handles meetings about asylum and immigration in Denmark, including those with authorities from other countries through ministerial visits and conferences. The International Division prepares EU casework in the national procedure in collaboration with the EU, for example in relation to Parliament's European Commitee.
