Refugees or persons with protected status

If your spouse/partner in Denmark holds a residence permit as a refugee or with protected status (the Danish Aliens Act, section 7 or 8), the Immigration Service may suspend one or more requirements for family reunification.

In these cases, the Immigration Service will assess whether your spouse/partner in Denmark still risks persecution in his/her country of origin, or, if you and your spouse/partner come from different countries, whether you and your spouse/partner can live together in your country of origin.

If your spouse/partner in Denmark still risks persecution in his/her country of origin, and if you and your spouse/partner cannot live together in your country of origin, the Immigration Service can suspend one or more requirements.

If your spouse/partner in Denmark no longer risks persecution in his/her country of origin, for instance, if many years have passed since he/she fled the country, or if the situation in the country has improved, all requirements must normally be met.
