Future changes as a result of the Government Platform

‘A united Denmark’, the Government Platform of the new Danish Government, was announced when the Government entered office.

The document is available (in Danish) on www.stm.dk, the website of the Prime Minister’s Office. According to pp. 51-56 of the Government Platform, the Government intends to propose various revisions to the field of immigration and integration, including the rules on eligibility for family reunification, permanent residence and nationality.

These revisions may have an impact on the conditions that a foreigner must satisfy to be eligible for family reunification, permanent residence, nationality, etc. Further details on the actual application of the Government Platform will be uploaded to the website when available.

At present it is not possible to give any details about the contents of the anticipated revisions, nor is it possible for the immigration authorities to give any specific details about the potential relevance of such revision to specific cases.

The authorities refer to www.ft.dk, the website of the Danish Parliament, which allows everybody to follow the statutory implementation of the Government Platform.

For the time being, individual cases will be considered and decided in accordance with the current legislation.
