In December 2007, the government appointed the Committee of Experts as a committee of civil servants with representatives of the Ministry of Refugee, Immigration and Integration Affairs (including the Danish Immigration Service), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, the Ministry of Justice and the secretariat of the Refugee Appeals Board.
The committee was charged with studying the asylum rules and practice in the following countries: Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and United Kingdom.
The report also contains recommendations for adjusting the conditions for asylum seekers and rejected asylum seekers.
Furthermore, the committee has examined the possibilities of establishing accommodation centres in refugees' regions of origin.
The report has been drafted and translated with support of IGC (Inter-governmental Consultations on Migration, Asylum and Refugees).
