About Online Danish

Online Danish is a free online course in Danish language that will make it possible for foreign national job seekers to learn Danish before coming to work in Denmark.

At present Online Danish is under development. As part of the implementation of the Government’s Action Plan for International Recruitment from October 2007 and the Government’s Job Action Plan from February 2008, the Danish Ministry of Refugee, Immigration and Integration Affairs will introduce a complete online Danish language training programme within a few years.

Online Danish will be targeted at students who have never spoken Danish before as well as students with some knowledge of Danish. Students will be able to use Online Danish to reach a level of language proficiency where they can be regarded as independent language users.

The tuition will consist of modules at different levels of proficiency. Each module will include exercises in speaking, writing, listening and reading.

Online Danish is mainly intended for people who want to work in Denmark. To complement the language tuition modules, Online Danish will also consist of three information modules regarding different aspects of living and working in Denmark. These information modules will also be translated into English, German and Polish. The first module being published December 1st 2008 is on the subjects of ’Working life in Denmark’ and ’Occupational safety and health on the work place'.
