This spoken edition of the book SUBJEKTIVT OG OBJEKTIVT is meant
to facilitate the acquisition of the printed edition, which deals
with the two major parts of the patient record. SUBJEKTIVT for the
medical history of the patient and OBJEKTIVT for the medical reporting
of clinical findings. The CD-edition has to be played on a PC with
good speakers. Personal copying is not restricted by any copyright.
As Danish, and thereby also medical professions’ Danish, among
other European languages holds the largest distance between spoken
and written forms, the aim of this spoken CD-edition is to enable
doctors with a non-Danish background to use it as a pronunciation
guide while working with the printed edition. The CD is therefore
recommended to be used as a work of reference rather than for reading
from page one to the end, i.e. listening while reading, alternating
with sequences of LISTEN AND READ – STOP AND SPEAK.
During the daily contact with patients, relatives and health personnel
it is advisable to use the CD plus the book as a source of answers
to questions regarding pronunciation. When the workday is over one
can take off in words noted during the day on a scribbling block
in the coat pocket. In other words: LEARNING BY NEEDING rather than
LEARNING BY DOING.
